The Sadies, "The Horseshoe", from the Rat Fink movie

Total badass-ery in every way. These guys are probably the best band in Toronto, and host the best New Years Eve shindigger out there, coincidentally, at The Horseshoe.

A great frame is a great frame...

Very nice Cinelli collaboration with the guys at Mash S.F. One day I'll get a track frame, and who knows, perhaps it'll be as stylish as this.

A Teepee and a bi-plane? When was this brewed?

Les Paul, 1915-2009.

Paul pioneered overdubbing, delay effects, multi-track recording and phaser effects. Obviously, he put his name to one of Gibson's best-selling guitars, as well as having a signature model from Gretsch and recording 40 albums and selling millions of records.

Les Paul, R.I.P. and see ya later, alligator.

The Bikes

There weren't many bikes at the show, but these were part of a local vintage bike club display.

Rock n' August, Edmonton

We just got back from a trip out west to see family, and I thought I'd share my shots from the Show n' Shine at Rock n' August in St. Albert. First up; The pick-ups...




This GMC with matching Shasta Trailer was the undisputed winner in my (nerdy) book. Loved it.





This was the only International at the show.






This truck also ruled, and would have got my vote if I hadn't looked inside and seen a digital dash set-up... Bummer.






This Chev destroyed too. Grille of the show.

Wheels of Fire

Yes, yes, yes. Real vert. I watched a bunch of the X Games over the last few days (shut up, I'm on holidays) and after watching great lip tricks, inverts and truly weird and wacky lines in the park contest get ignored in favor of Andy-bloody-Mac crap, this is a breath of fresh air.

Kevin Kowalski, Omar, Aaron Homoki and Rune were awesome in the janky half-wood, half-concrete set-up. Omar's slam was ugly, but he got back at 'er pretty hard. Rune is just head and shoulders above anyone else, though. Super fast, super smooth and above all gnarly. Trujillo will always be under-appreciated at this bogus ad-fest.

The vert was so lame I can barely write anything about it. When an overhead front stale or whatever is "a wasted set-up air" I want to puke. Spin to win ladies, spin to win. On a positive note; Bucky's boneless five and McEgg are great.

Maloof was better.

P.s. The song is by Claus Grabke's band Eight Dayz, "What's so strange about me?" Love it.
